The icon 'whitens' but does not age: the new Nautilus There is no end to the renewal of Patek Philippe's icon of sporty luxury.

We are talking, of course, about the Nautilus, the sporty timepiece from the Geneva-based Maison that has enjoyed uninterrupted critical and public acclaim for more than thirty years.

Created in 1976 thanks to the ingenious inventiveness of Gerald Genta, the Nautilus underwent a restyling in 2006, to which the models presented this year in Basel add further new shades of colour. In fact, four new models have been unveiled.

In Ref 5726/1A, the annual calendar in steel (a complication presented on the Nautilus two years ago with an alligator strap) also sees the birth of a bracelet version. The model is available with both the usual grey dial and a white dial.

The ref 5980/1A, the chronograph that until now was available in two versions with a blue and black dial, is also available in the same new colour. And the classic time-only with date 5711/1A also sees its now-classic blue dial joined by the option of a white dial, which lends a further touch of genteel classicism to a sporting star like the Nautilus. In all these new light-coloured dials, the spheres and hour markers are oxidised at the edges to optimise readability.
