Coinciding with the beginning of our collaboration with Piaget, we are celebrating together the great achievements of the Maison, including the recent triumph at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). During this prestigious evening, also known as 'the Oscars of Watches', the Piaget Polo 79 won the award for Best Watch in the Icon category.

The Piaget Polo was launched at the start of the 1980s, a period marked by profound changes in the lifestyle of Piaget customers. The growing focus on wellness and health, fuelled by the popularity of fitness, redefined daily priorities and influenced mass culture. At the same time, sport emerged as global entertainment, transforming athletes into pop culture icons and inspiring new aesthetic codes in design and fashion.

Yves Piaget, an equestrian enthusiast, crystallised his love of horses and social life in a single timepiece that became emblematic of 1980s glamour. The Piaget Polo was as well suited to New York nightclubs, such as Regine's and Studio 54, as it was to the Polo Clubs of Palm Beach, responding to the desire of the time to maintain elegance even during everyday activity. The Piaget Polo combined luxury and exclusivity with cutting-edge technical features: shock-resistant, water-resistant and made exclusively of precious metals, it represented a style revolution.

This watch, entirely made of 18-carat gold, enchanted the international jet set 45 years ago and continues to be loved today by those who understand true luxury. Today, the Piaget Polo is reborn as the Piaget Polo 79, a model that retains the contemporary spirit and philosophy of the Piaget Society while evolving with modern technical features. The 38 mm case houses the ultra-thin 1200P1 calibre with automatic winding, visible through the crystal case back, a technical evolution of the original quartz movement.

The design is characterised by a refined alternation of polished and brushed links, creating afluid aesthetic that the unites bracelet, case and dial in a harmonious whole. This continuous motif is emblematic of the Maison's craftsmanship, making the Piaget Polo a masterpiece in modern design.

At the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie, the new Piaget Polo '79 was recently awarded the 'Best Watch' in the 'Iconic' category thanks to its design and symbolic history. This award celebrates its ability to influence the contemporary watchmaking market, embodying the values of non-conformism and freedom.

Since its foundation in 1874, Piaget has embodied a bold creativity, cultivated in its 'Ateliers de l'Extraordinaire'. Here, rare artisanal skills, handed down and perfected from generation to generation, transform gold and precious stones into authentic works of art.

By including Piaget among its watch brands, Astrua 1860 celebrates the union of tradition and innovation, values that Piaget has embodied for over 150 years. Since its founding in 1874, the Swiss Maison has been able to combine the art of watchmaking and jewellery artistry, creating masterpieces that transcend time. From the ultra-thin movements that represent a technical revolution, to the iconic and sophisticated lines that define each collection, Piaget continues to represent the pinnacle of craftsmanship and creativity.

Discover Piaget's iconic timepieces from Astrua, in the Polo collection, an icon of sophisticated sportiness, Altiplano, with one-of-a-kind calibres only 2 mm thick, and Limelight Gala and Possession, which feature precious stones and fine materials on elegant feminine silhouettes.
