We were particularly intrigued by the monumental work dedicated to Rolex,'Rolex, the Impossible Collection', curated by Fabienne Reybaud, which pays tribute to the visionary genius of the founder of the world's most famous Maison, Hans Wilsdorf, who had the intuition to create his own company on the bet that the wristwatch - at the beginning of the 20th century considered nothing more than a fashionable eccentricity compared to the pocket watch - could represent the future of world watchmaking. In addition to examples of great rarity, this volume shows watches that have never been seen in print: from the first wrist watch to the Explorer worn by Edmund Hillary on his expedition to Everest in 1953.
