The island of Mykonos is a waking dream — a dazzling white shimmer of light suspended between sky and sea. Its iconic stones, rising from the beaches like mythological giants and elegantly set into the cobbled paths of narrow alleys, are the inspiration behind the Mykonos Collection, which Valter Franco Ricci dedicates to the captivating charm of Mediterranean beauty.

Mykonos, said the Greek writer Melpo Axiotis, “is exactly in the centre of the Aegean Sea, so that everyone around looks at it, and admires what they see”. Mykonos is a waking dream, a dazzling white shimmer of light suspended between sky and sea. Myth relates that it was on Mykonos that Hercules finally defeated the Giants and that their petrified bodies turned into the great rocks of the island - later becoming the island itself. We like to believe it, and as we look at the stones of Mykonos, first rising proudly from the beaches and then beautifully embedded in the picturesque cobblestones of its narrow alleys, we imagine that each of these stones may have, in a distant time, when it was still a titan, performed legendary feats. Mykonos is the embodiment of the enchantment between man - with its mills and whitewashed walls - and nature, with the Mediterranean combination of sun, sky and sea. And it is precisely to its marvellous stones, with their unmistakable silhouettes, that Valter Franco Ricci lovingly dedicates a collection of jewellery. Thus, the stones come back to life, iconic once more, thanks to the creative process: no longer menacing giants, but rather enchanting sirens, a seductive and irresistible whisper that captivates and dazzles. Astrua's Mykonos collection - which ranges from bracelets and necklaces to earrings and rings, but also includes cufflinks - is a tribute to the beauty of this incredible island. The noble metal bends sinuously and discreetly to make room for the stones and pebbles, adorned with blue and white diamonds like the foam of a rippling sea; or transformed into precious gems streaked with the blue of topaz, the fuchsia of jade, the orange or softer hues of sapphire and madeira citrine, and the dazzling white kogolong. Because Mykonos jewellery, just like the island, is created to be at the centre of our desire, so that everyone looks at it, and admires what they see.
