Girard Perregaux Neo Bridges: a bridge between future and tradition
The determination to redefine an icon drove Girard Perregaux to transform an inspirational archetype of more than 150 years into a contemporary Bridges collection, projecting the art of watchmaking into modernity.
The determination to redefine an icon drove Girard Perregaux to transform an inspirational archetype of more than 150 years into a contemporary Bridges collection, projecting the art of watchmaking into modernity.
From the classic Bridges to the Neo Bridges, this collection brings the tradition of revealing the invisible into the third millennium.the key inspiration is the famous Trois Pont d'Orby Girard Perregaux. In 1860, when Constant Girard created his tourbillon, he chose to mount the cage on three gold bridges, transforming the tourbillon mechanism into an integral component of his watch design. At the time, it was a pocket chronometer with a Rose Gold tourbillon, which won the first prize at the Neuchatel Observatory.
In 1889, at the Exposition Universelle de Paris, the Esmeralda watch was awarded a gold medal; from then on, the Trois Ponts d'Or became Girard Perregaux's hallmark for its best watches.
In 1999, Girard Perregeaux introduced its first self-winding tourbillon, the Trois Ponts d'Or, with a platinum mini-rotor.
The architectural elements and codes that constitute the strength and uniqueness of this collection have been preserved. However, modifications to the design of the bridges, the shape of the crystal and the completely redesigned heart of the calibre have set new standards in watchmaking.
This bold design reinterprets an icon of watchmaking tradition with an extraordinarily fascinating high-tech touch: the Neo Bridges.
A thoroughly contemporary watch that remains true to Girard-Perregaux's DNA: the movement is not just a technical element of the watch, but an integral part of the design that makes the Neo Bridges instantly recognisable.
We are talking about a self-winding watch with a titanium case with a diameter of 45 mm and an alligator strap.
This masterpiece was assembled by hand using more than two hundred components and features a visible micro-rotor, positioned at 10 o'clock on the dial (as is the entire movement). The power reserve is approximately 50 hours.
The heart of this exceptional timepiece is the calibre of manufacture GP 8400-0001, which oscillates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, a slightly different frequency from the usual 28,800 vibrations per hour, but one that allows us to appreciate even more the art of watchmaking in action.
A bridge supports the balance wheel, recalling the famous bridges that traditionally supported Girard-Perregaux's tourbillons.
The Girard Perregaux Neo Bridges has a sale value of € 33,300.00: sign up at www.astrua.com and discover the benefits reserved for you when you buy.
