For divers, timekeeping was essential and Breitling was committed to providing them with the most accurate diver's watch possible, eliminating any features that did not support life-saving underwater needs. This simplified clock was called Slow Motion. The clean lines, solid luminescent indices, square hands and a strongly contrasting dial ring remained - all in the service of maximum readability. Practical? Yes. But what people fell in love with was the look. The new Superocean revisits the iconic design codes of the celebrated Slow Motion, while adding modern features like a ceramic inlay bezel and brightly colored dials. Bold hands and Super-LumiNova® luminescent indexes ensure optimal legibility underwater. The watch is water-resistant to 300 meters (1000 feet), the watch is also shock-, sand-, and saltwater-resistant. The bronze version uses a special alloy that is highly resistant to corrosion, but over time continues to develop a subtle patina that makes the watch even more unique. The two strap options (rubber and metal bracelet) feature a deployant buckle for minimum adjustments of up to 15 mm, for an easy fit over tight-fitting jackets or wetsuits. The inlaid ceramic, scratch-resistant bezel will never wear or fade. For safety, the bezel is unidirectional in most sizes and bidirectional with a patented lock in the 46 mm model. But best of all, it is no longer strictly speaking just a diver's watch - it is suitable for surfing, swimming, impressing at the beach bar or showing off at dinner.
