Why we chose it:

The prestige of Patek Philippe is a cornerstone for true collectors and a benchmark against which all other Haute Horlogerie Maisons are measured.

Perfect harmony

An elliptical case, combining a circle and a rectangle. Subtle hands and hour markers punctuate the blue gold dial with its magical reflections. When it first appeared in 1968, Patek Philippe's Golden Ellipse was a bold departure from traditional watch shapes but, far from bowing to passing trends, this innovative timepiece exhibited a harmony of aesthetically pleasing proportions.

Its design was inspired by the principle of the “golden ratio” discovered by ancient Greek mathematicians. This “divine proportion” - expressed as the ratio 1:1.6181 - is the basis for some of the greatest artistic and architectural masterpieces in history.
