Big Pilot's Watch Spitfire

Throughout its history, IWC Schaffhausen has designed numerous military watches for various branches of the British armed forces. These timepieces were characterized by highly precise movements, exceptional robustness, a functional design with easily readable dials, and technical features developed specifically for military use. The Pilot’s Watches Spitfire collection reflects this chapter in the brand’s history. The Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Spitfire combines the iconic Big Pilot’s design—with its distinctive conical crown and ergonomic 43 mm case—with a characteristic military aesthetic. The case and crown are made of bronze, while the case back is crafted from titanium. The bronze used by IWC contains, in addition to copper, both aluminum and iron. This specific composition makes the alloy about 50% harder than standard bronze. Over time, the bronze develops a unique patina, giving each timepiece distinctive character and individuality. The warm tone of the bronze blends harmoniously with the military green dial and gold-plated hands. To enhance legibility at night, the hands and hour markers are coated with a luminescent material. Fitted with a green buffalo leather strap with a unique texture, this timepiece also features the new IWC EasX-CHANGE system, allowing the strap to be changed quickly and easily at the push of a button. Inside the case lies the IWC-manufactured calibre 82100 movement. The Pellaton winding system, reinforced with ceramic components, provides a power reserve of 60 hours. The soft-iron inner case protects the movement from the effects of magnetic fields.
