Pilot's Watches
Why we chose it:
The only historic Haute Horlogerie Maison from the German-speaking region of Switzerland, IWC holds a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts for the versatility and precision of its designs.
Pilot's Watches
Designed as navigational instruments for aviators, with their cokpit-style look and indicator triangle at 12 o'clock, IWC Pilot's Watches are indispensable companions for modern explorers. The prominent conical crown of the Big Pilot’s Watch is a nod to the era when aviation pioneers had to brave wind and harsh weather inside unheated cockpits. Since they wore padded aviator uniforms and thick gloves, the crown was always particularly large and easy to grip, so that it could be adjusted and wound even with covered hands.

THE COCKPIT-STYLE LOOK OF PILOT'S WATCHES BY IWC
The typical instrument look, with luminescent indicators standing out against a black background, still remains the benchmark for all classic aviator watches today. The dial is simple and matt black, with striking hands and large luminescent numerals.
THE TRIANGLE INDICATOR AT 12 O'CLOCK
In the 1930s and 1940s, IWC shaped the cockpit-style look of classic aviator watches. Thanks to the white indicator triangle at '12 o'clock', a quick glance is enough to recognise the position of the hands and read the time. The equilateral triangle with the luminescent tip pointing upwards is accompanied by two side dots to facilitate orientation.
