Speedmaster X-33 Marstimer Chronograph

Developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), the new OMEGA Speedmaster X-33 Marstimer lives up to all expectations.

Housed in a Grade 2 titanium case, this unique 45mm chronograph now shows time and time zones both on our planet and the mysterious Red Planet. This is made possible by a new micro-controller, developed and programmed to apply the time equation to both planets. The watch’s ability to display time anywhere allows the innovative solar compass to determine north on both Earth and Mars. The watch also displays the heliocentric longitude of the Red Planet, as well as date and time for three different locations (the first meridian of Mars Sol + two user-defined positions), taking into account the 2.7% longer length of days on Mars compared to Earth days.

The model features a classic black dial with contrasting background to provide both analog and digital readings, making the Earth and Mars symbols, indicating the active function, even clearer. Surrounding the dial, a bezel with an anodized red hematite oxalic aluminum ring recalls the unmistakable Martian surface. This extraordinary color is also present on the seconds hand, which has a gradient that transitions from black to red.

Turning the watch reveals the caseback, where the iconic “Speedmaster” inscription and OMEGA’s emblematic hippocampus are embossed at the center, surrounded by the inscription SPEEDMASTER X-33 MARSTIMER, ESA TESTED AND QUALIFIED. The watch is powered by the OMEGA Caliber 5622.

For those who prefer an alternative to the Grade 2 and 5 titanium bracelet, the Marstimer is also fitted with a dedicated NATO strap, presented in a special cylindrical box that pays homage to the Red Planet. The inner lining of the box features a reproduction of Hebes Chasma, a large, steep, and rugged canyon found on the Martian surface.
